Summer Interns

The West Harlem Art Fund has assembled a great team of creative talent this summer. We have interns from various colleges around the country blogging, tweeting and organizing special events. Read about some of our interns.

Juan Carmona Zabala is a Fulbright student at NYU. Originally from Spain, Juan is working on a graduate degree in European and Mediterrean Studies. He speaks fluent English, Spanish, German and Modern Greek. Juan started our Spanish blog www.nycartsenespanol.wordpress.com

Sarah Zaslavasky is an Honors student at Ithaca College. She is a President’s Scholarship recipient and Historian of the Fifes and Drums of Ithaca College. Sarah is studying Italian. Sarah writes our Italian blog www.nycarttoursinitaliano.wordpress.com

Shikira Rock is a Brooklyn College Student. She is studying communications and she is our Twitter Queen. Shikira wants to pursue a career in public relations or advertising. Check us out on Twitter @wharlemartfund

Myla Seabrook is a recent graduate of Hofstra University. Myla had a double major in Fine Arts and English. She was on the Provost and Dean’s List. Myla wants to be a writer and this summer she is covering the Lower East Side art scene with her blog post. Check her out on www.nycarttours.wordpress.com

Jaylyn McCoy is also a recent graduate of Central Florida with a Master’s degree in hospitality and tourism management. She got her undergraduate degree from Penn State. Jaylyn doesn’t know this but Penn State was my college’s football rival — University of Pittsburgh. Jaylyn is helping us with our special events on Governors Island.

Ellen Guanlee  Xie is an Environmental Studies Major with a creative writing focus at Vassar College. She speaks fluent Mandarin and Ellen is experienced in newspaper, blog and various forms of creative writing. Ellen has written several interviews for our English version blog www.nycarttours.wordpress.com

Tyler Amaka Chukwu is an arts and writing student at Columbia University. Tyler has an international background where she has done extensive travelling. Tyler has experience with both film and digital photography and video, as well as editing. She is one of our photographers for the summer.

Neal From is an English Major at Colorado College. A Native New Yorker, Neal is both a swimmer and football player. Energetic and very enthusiastic, Neal has a love for photography. He has visited a number of artists and gallerists this summer taking pictures for us.
